I love starting a new project. I love finding that stack of fabric and imagining the possibilities. For this week, I’m working on a custom Etsy order for my friend LauraC as a birthday gift for her soon-to-be-3-year-old boys. The little dog prints are so sweet, I can’t wait for them to come together.
Yesterday, I left my husband home with the kids during naptime and hit my local quilt shop. I love being able to go in there without taking up half the shop with my double stroller. When I’m with the kids, I have to dart around to find what I’m looking for while keeping a constant flow of goldfish crackers lest the natives become restless. Even then, that only buys me a max of maybe 10 minutes. When I’m by myself, though, I can linger and wander and look at it all. And yesterday, I found the most wonderful combo of fabrics for my friend. She’s having a baby girl this summer, and is doing the nursery in purples and greens.
I am in love. I already wonder if I’m going to be able to give this one up when I’m finished with it. I may have to go buy more fabric and make another one… The three larger prints are from the Michael Miller Feeling Groovy collection. The green is Neptune Tortoise Shell in Algae by Moda, and the purple is Kona Bay Sadako collection.
And, just for fun, I think I’m going to do a 9-patch-a-day quilt-along with crazy mom quilts. Crazy, indeed!

I love that Feeling Groovy and Neptune fabic! I just finished a quilt with the blue/green groovy fabric, and am about to pin my Neptune coin quilt. I look forward to seeing how yours turns out.
And I’m totally with you on being able to fabric shop without goldfish! It’s almost like a vacation isn’t it!

I want the red pile!!! I FEEL those colors. I hear you about shopping with the kids- my oldest (almost 6) gets hyper and my youngest (almost 5) gets anxious. I shop when they’re in school, but if DH is with us (he’s a great fabric enabler) then I take both kids and I PRAY. lol.
