Blogger’s Quilt Festival

Amy is hosting an online Quilt Festival over at her blog, and a few hundred folks have already joined in.

I wasn’t sure if I was going to play. I’ve blogged nearly every quilt I’ve ever made, which has all been over the course of the last year or so.  Plus, it’s hard to pick a favorite.  But I think I’m going to go with the one I made for the unnamed-at-the-time Marcella, my friend Mallory’s baby girl.

I was really happy with the way this one turned out.  I loved the zig-zag, I loved the colors.  And I am so happy I started over and made this one instead of the original.  The first attempt was a total failure. It sort of worked in theory, but ended up being ugly as sin.  Not to mention totally against my personal taste, which was only just developing (still is, but there was a steep jump last spring in finding out what I like and don’t like).  I’m glad I trusted my gut and made this one, instead.

I loved it so much, I barely wanted to let it go.  But I am so happy it is being used and loved by a sweet little baby girl (and I still get to see it, from time to time).

    LOVE this quilt! I always find using any shade of purple a total challenge, but you do it so beautifully! The recipient is a lucky little baby girl!

    This came out wonderfully! I’m not a huge purple fan – but I just LOVE the colors you put it with and I would definitely make a quilt with this color combo! It’s too bad those darling deer didn’t make it in this quilt though! lol

    I love purple and green together–always so fresh and fun. That’s a sweet quilt and the quilting is nice and simple, like the zig zag. Thanks for sharing!

    Aaawww! We are so glad that you did decide to give this one away, because Marcella and I love it. And we use it all the time. In fact, it’s about to go into the wash because of too much love (aka spit up). :-)

    You know, I’ve just got to make a zig-zag quilt! I’ve seen them for a while now around the blogosphere and think, yep. It’s time. Yours convinces me. I loved reading the comments, especially the one from Mallory–I can see why she loves this quilt. Not only are the colors and designs terrific, but it was made with lots of love.
